Do you know the great people that make up the team for piglet and sow at Nutrifeed? This time, meet our colleague:
Managing Director China
In his position as Managing Director China, he is responsible to manage the relationship with the distributors and find solutions to the challenges and opportunities arising in the Greater China region. In this interview, he tells us more about his work and what is so great about working at Nutrifeed.
How did you end up at Nutrifeed?
I already worked for around 20 years in the field of animal husbandry in Asia. When Nutrifeed had the opening for this position I was approached by a headhunter. After many rounds of interviews, and job assessment tests I was given a job offer.
What is your role (responsibility) within Nutrifeed? I am the managing director of the Denkavit-Nutrifeed office in China. My responsibility is to coordinate the work. I am in charge to stay within or exceed the budget figures, managing the relationship with the distributors, and finding solutions to challenges and support opportunities arising in the Greater China region.
Which regions/ countries are you responsible for?
I am responsible for China and Taiwan.
What is your previous work experience?
Before I started at Nutrifeed I worked for the companies Big Dutchman, Christian Hansen, and ROQUETTE.
As one of the directors of Big Dutchman South East Asia, I was in charge of the swine and poultry after-sales department in the Asia-Pacific region. In this position, I was spearheading the work of 215 people in eight countries. At Christian Hansen’s swine and dairy animal nutrition business, as a sales director, I was in charge to develop the company’s key accounts, coaching and managing the distributors, and establishing the sales team in South East Asia and China. And for ROQUETTE, a global ingredient supplier of dairy products as a director of business development in Asia, I worked on strategy development and marketing.
What do you like best about your job?
I find it challenging but at the same time satisfying to coordinate people from different cultural backgrounds and find solutions to business-related problems.
What do you like best about piglets? I naturally like small animals and piglets are no exception. Once I was at a beauty contest of piglets in Idaho/USA. That shows me that pigs can be loved just like small dogs or cats.
What is the biggest challenge in your work?
To be a bridge between two different cultures and understand both sides and convince parties to accept different ideas are sometimes challenging. Since the COVID outbreak living in China is difficult and now that the disease is spreading again there are many inconveniences in daily life.
What do you like most about working at/for Nutrifeed? People are very helpful supportive and knowledgeable. Straightforward communication is appreciated and makes work easier.
